Opie & Anthony have claimed for years that Howard Stern has ripped them off. This is the main example their fans use. He once played a song parody that an O&A listener made for a contest. When O&A played the clip on their show, however, they deliberately cut out the part when Howard said the song was sent in by a listener who found it on the internet, because they wanted to claim he passed it off as his own song parody. If you listen to their clip about it, (another user uploaded the video and refused to accept this as a video response) you'd think he deliberately ripped them off, and probably had marveled at how hilarious the song was, taking full credit for it.
Here it is in full context showing that Howard didn't rip off O&A and further proving that O&A just wanted Howard's attention, and were trying to portray themselves as somehow being in his league.

  • whoever ripped whom off - the main thing is how they play and react to the songs FOR A RADIO. and here O&A with Ants comments totally own Stern in one gate! there is nothing funny and entertaining Howard could offer to these songs. he used songs in this bit to make bit funny, while O&A made fun out of funny songs which made it double fun and entertaining for a radio.

  • @boza112 so what makes it funny? they fake laugh over the song parodies like bob & tom? they pretend it was soooooooooo controversial and outrageous that they're totally gonna get in trouble from management? at least stern admits they're just boring racist songs that come up every so often.

  • You're a complete idiot if you don't see how Howards radio wars with IMUS, MANCOW, etc. were 100% different then the "war" with O&A.

  • @ZaSchafer i'm just pointing out that it's ridiculous of them to claim that he stole their song, and that he steals all the time from other dj's. especially since they grew up listening to him and obviously took a lot of their show directly from his. they have a wackpack with retards and stutterers. they have a wrap-up show hosted by their producer. they say things like "douche-chills" that is a term invented on the stern show. anthony was on the goddamn show for a contest!

  • @nogoodbastid im not arguing that they are on his level with viewers, never did, and i ment satellite doesnt care. there is no way that song would air on am/fm today. ive never heard O&A say they had howard's numbers, ive only heard them correct and put in to context the figures he edits. funny is subjective, what is not however is my original point that there is now way in hell howard would not have let it go if they play material played on his show,

  • @ZaSchafer sirius always knows how many listeners a show has because advertisers need to know those numbers. in the 2 ratings books released on all of satellite radio howard's 2 stations were the #1 and #2. howard 100 had over 5 times as many listeners as the virus. ratings aren't really relevant to this particular argument about stealing bits, but o&a fans try to argue they are somewhere near howard's level and it's untrue. that's taste completely aside. you can still say their show is funnier.

  • @nogoodbastid i grew up in georgia they've been doing racist songs for centuries hooohooooo we invented racism

  • @nogoodbastid when they talk about not being able to do it on terrestrial, its not because of FCC regs but pussy station owners. howey did and does get away with more than they ever will/have, because the bosses back him, (before you could argue rating but satellite doesn't know, now its because sirus is built around him and they dont have a choice.) media sucks today because of that pussy mentality but stern doesnt care he got paid and only ever cared about his free speech

  • @ZaSchafer they also talked about what great radio it was, and how you could never do that on terrestrial radio today. this was after howard had played the exact same song on his show on terrestrial radio and it got no response. ant still brings up "the house next door to me was sold..." song constantly, which he definitely first heard on the stern show back when he listened every day. i'm not saying that's theft in any way, but come on. howard's been doing the racist songs thing since the 80's.

  • @ZaSchafer they obviously wanted their audience to think stern "stole" it that's why they talked about it for 8 minutes, and he only played 20 seconds of the song before moving on to the next one. they referred to him as "lazy" for not obtaining a better copy to cover his tracks, suggesting he steals from them all the time and at this point is just playing pieces of their show on his show intentionally. cause howard stern needs some of those o&a ratings, right?

  • @nogoodbastid o and a never said he claimed it to be his original and neither did i, they said he played their old material. listening again i can hear dan instead of they had, but did you miss the significance of me quoting the rest correctly "songs on the internet.."" in all honesty how would stern have react if they played his old bits that were on the web, gag order comes to mind
