Natacha Gachnang crashes her Ford GT in the first ever round of the FIA GT1 championship in Abu Dhabi.

She breaks one of her legs in the accident. Gachnang happens to be Sebastien Buemi's cousin who also had an accident during the Practice for the Chinese Grand Prix.

It was caused by both rear brakes failing and the fact she accidentally put her feet on the accelerator & brake at the same time.

  • Did the camera operator survive?

  • @damonsmedley1 He suffered a broken nose but was otherwise fine.

  • Shame it happened in the first ever GT1 race too. Picture it - You get everything ready for your first ever season in GT1... and you break both legs in the first race & will have to miss the rest of the year.

  • you dumbasses, she's actually a rather good driver. this accident was due to COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE on the rear circuit, in effect giving her nearly 100% front brake bias.

    ignorant sexist fucks, you shits.

  • get well soon Natacha Gachnang :o/

  • both brakes failure? then explain the immense amount of tyre smoke.

  • 'Professional race driver' is someone who GETS PAID to race because they are talented. Someone who PAYS TO RACE and is completely talentless will do stupid things like this. Hows about chucking the money my way??

  • @puredrifter the annotation says "AND the fact that he put his feet on the accelerator and the brake at the same time". I wonder why the brakes broke...

  • Wow! Was she ok???

  • stupid bitch

  • what kind of professional racer makes a rookie mistake like putting both feet on the accelerator and brake at the same time..?

  • worst racing crashes are so often caused by mechanical failures, they come unexpected and are often uncontrollable.

  • @puredrifter its been a year, but got news for you, according to the matech website there was a rear brake failure, but due to fact she hit both the gas pedal and brake at same time is why u see all the smoke, the crew chief said the front brakes would have been sufficient to stop her in time. After she recovered she wrecked the GT1 again several months later, they then let her go...

  • "and the fact she accidentally put her feet on the accelerator & brake at the same time." - EPIC... first thing that they teach in carting...I bet she was shopping when they tought that.

  • well, its kind of weird for a professionlla driver to hit both pedal at the same time...you can see the engine running like hell and brakes trying to deal with that... thats a fail for her(at least for this time).
