Jay used to tell breakfast stories to try to get his children, Ted and Laura, to eat their oatmeal. He'd say "Eat your oatmeal and then I'll tell you a story." They in turn told Jay they'd eat their oatmeal after he told them a story! One morning, there were raisins in their oatmeal and thus Jay's story, RAISINS, was born!
Thanks so much for putting up this story, Jay. I also grew up listening to your stories on tape. It reminds me so much of my childhood. You are a fantastic storyteller. Thanks for your stories.
I grew up listening to this story from Good Apple records. I also had Petrukian, Raspberries, Little Heroes, Earth Stories and the Minister of Others' Affairs. I loved them all. Thanks, Jay!!
I'm so glad I found this video! I remember singing the raisins song all the time.

I was at the thrift store a few years ago and found a cassette of stories for only 25 cents.
I listened to it and was BLOWN AWAY by the best storytelling I've ever heard. It was by this man in the video. Wonderful songs and characters.
