steven king did not write the book there! i went on the tour and i learned a lot and the shining wasnt even filmed there it was filmed sumwhere in england and im stayin the this week i luv the stanley best hotel eva!!!!!!!!!! GO STANLEY HOTEL!!!!!!!!!
Also there is rumor that the stanley hotel was about to go under till the remake of the shinning...they remodled and it plus the remake of the original brought bussness back...dont know for sure if that is true...if anyone has anymore info would you mind sharing it thank you
Stephen King's stay at the Stanley is what inspired him to write "The Shining", though the movie wasn't actually filmed there at all. It was all done on a sound stage in England. The mini-series of "The Shining" that aired on ABC in (what I believe was 1999...or 1996?) was filmed completely at the hotel though. Things like the maze in front of the hotel don't actually exist. I worked there this past summer for an internship, and a lot of people were disappointed to hear that!
Very cool. The other parts of The Shining film were shot on soundstages in, I believe, Shepperton and Elstree studios, although don't quote me. Nice to see it's looking so good. I've been told it's a lovely hotel for a stay in real life.
I'm new to this ...... Were people murdered there ?
