There already is a Church of Star Wars.... And why shouldn't there be? From antiquity part of the function/appeal of religions was to interest people with colourful storytelling and interesting characters.... eg Egyptian/Greek mythology is full of such good characters and stories they make Hollywood movies based on some of them.... So why not in reverse....?

Scientology shouldn't really qualify as a religion as it does not "bind" people. Judeo-Christian Faiths are a good example of what a religion literally is. They have the idea of using this life as a way of getting to liberation after death. Then you have eastern philosophies such as Buddhism and Taoism that concentrate of liberating oneself alone. Then you get Scientology: Truth is available for all those with money
