The Chinese security guards seemed to communicate that foreigners could cross the Mong Cai/Dongxing border between 8am-8pm. I crossed at 6pm.Thu 22 April, 2010. It was a quick crossing. I'm not sure about weekends/holidays ect. I posted this vid as there is little info available on this border crossing when I crossed.

  • I crossed about 2 weeks after this video was taken and they told me that the border closed at 7pm. Maybe that's 7pm Vietnam time, 8pm China time?

  • @bensonwallace It could well be. I have a small amount of Mandarin and no Cantonese. It was difficult to get info as the border staff had very little english at best, whilst I was crossing.

  • Was this crossing an unusual thing? It sounds as if it was something out of the ordinary. =0[.]o=

  • @Raycheetah Hi, this crossing is not unusual. It is just that there is not alot of info on it for travellers (that I could find). For example: Can non-Vietnamese or non-Chinese travellers cross it. What time of day can you cross. Sometimes there are restrictions. Ironically, YT is not readily accessible in China, although it is in Vietnam.
