An audio slideshow explaining how a pregnant woman's decision to donate their baby's umbilical cord blood to a public bank can save lives. The process is free and painless to the baby and the mother. When donated, umbilical cord blood (which would otherwise become medical waste) can be used to treat people - particularly children - suffering from leukemia, sickle cell anemia and many other life-threatening diseases. The slideshow was produced by Long Haul Productions, developed by the not-for-profit organization HealthConnect One, and funded by The Coleman Foundation, with help and support from Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Chicago Hispanic Health Coalition, Children's Memorial Hospital, and ITxM Cord Blood Services.
