Vanguard is the powerful debut album of Danish metallers Forcentury. The album contains 9 tracks that at the same time are very different from each other, but also share a common heritage in the classic branches of metal. The avid listener easily identifies influences from speed metal, power metal, thrash, and progressive rock and metal - all brands of music, that the band openly declares its deep love for.
In terms of mood, the songs are definitely melodic, heavy, and dramatic, and some have a distinct progressive edge. In the more riffy/thrashy end of the spectrum, songs like Through the Eyes of Thunder and Speculator stand out with pounding drums and bass and guitars shredding on top, whereas Valhalla's Call and Rise of the Machines are more mellow, dramatic and progressive in melody and rhythm.

About Forcentury:

Forcentury is a Danish melodic heavy metal band that spans musically from speed metal to power metal and occasionally incorporates progressive metal. The band is six man strong and consists of the two guitar players Marc Masters and Jens-Christian "JaCK" Kijne, bass player Kristian "Iver" Iversen, keyboard player Andreas Palsgård, drummer Jonas Landt and the Scottish vocalist Johnn Thunder. It is a motley bunch with a wide array of talents, but the focal point and foundation of the band is the mutual love of heavy metal. The band has quite naturally made it their mission to merge the classic heavy virtues with the modern sound and playing style. With Vanguard Forcentury have already inscribed themselves into the Danish metal history books, and they're adamant that this was merely the first sod. This century belongs to Forcentury and the band does not hesitate to prophesize:
Heavy metal will save the world!
