Clawhammer on Gold Tone CEB-5 five-string Cello Banjo, tuned gCDCD.
I, like other clawhammer banjoists, use this tuning a lot. I consider John Henry and Johnson Boys to be two quintessential American tunes for which the banjo is ideally suited to carry. I've already gotten several decades of enjoyment out of them and hope for several more. There's something about good old-time tuned that seems an inexhaustible source of sweetness.
Cello banjo offers a portal into many regions of sound. Personally, I find cello banjo affords a gateway to the music of ancient cultures. I'm not surprised that banjoists such as Béla Fleck are gravitating to the Gold Tone cello banjo. These intriguing beasts have been resurrected in the modern world, thanks to Wayne Rogers of Gold Tone, who had the insight, foresight and hindsight to breathe new life into an instrument that hadn't been around in close to a century. Let me know if you're thinking of getting one.
Please visit my website http://www.banjocrazy.com/ where I represent Gold Tone banjos and interviews with wonderful banjo players like Adam Hurt, Marcy Marxer, Bob Carlin, Cathy Moore, Cathy Fink and others. I'll be adding tabs and other fun stuff, so keep me posted.

That banjo can rattle the molars in my mouth... I love it! Excellent arrangement and rendition, by the way.
