Video Showing Beating Of Girl by Taliban in Pakistan

Former Pakistan information minister Sherry Rehman says no civilised Pakistani can look at the video of Taliban's way of justice without shame or remorse.

The worst fears of the Mullah court punishments are coming true in Swat valley in Pakistan. Sources claim that many women have been whipped for harmless activities such as shopping.

In a chilling video footage of one such punishment, a 17-year-old-girl is mercilessly whipped by the Taliban law enforcers. The girl in the video is named Chaand and was punished in Matta, Swat Valley.

In the disturbing visual, two men pin the girl while a third one whipped, lashing out 37 hits. The girl's brother was one of the men punishing her while the two were from the Taliban forces. A fourth man joins in the ordeal as the brother was not able to pin her down.

No mercy was shown to the girl despite her screams to stop the flogging. Her attempts to defend went in vain.

The girls crime was that she came out of the house with a man who was not her husband. There was no trial and the punishment was on the basis of a neighbour's suspicion.

The incident happened less than 10 days back after the signing of the peace deal between the provisional government and militants. The video was deliberately released by Taliban so that nobody dare raise voice against their diktat.

Human rights officials claim that Taliban have committed many such atrocities according to their whims and fancies after the deal.
