Santa on skis

For 15 years, Don Bryant, 71, of Grotto, has spent most mornings at Stevens Pass skiing the slopes as Santa Clause each December. Santa starts the morning handing out candy canes until the lifts open.

Once the chairs start moving though, Santa is only a red blur flying down the slopes. I do this because I enjoy it, he said. The smiles, the reaction — this makes people happy. It's rewarding.

Bryant started skiing at Stevens Pass before the lifts existed, in 1947 as a 9-years-old.
