Video about putting an end to annoying factory/stock beeping noises. Some ways have drawbacks. Some ways just deal with the door chime (ei: not seatbelt or headlights, etc).

Three Different Ways (depending on what you want)
1) door sensor mod
2) unplug random circuit
3) remove buzzer from circuit board = "my favorite choice"

RANT + BACKGROUND
I had GREAT trouble finding a good video or tutorial on how to do this modification. Car buzzers are some of the most ANNOYING things ever created. I obviously wear a seatbelt everytime I drive. & I obviously close my doors while driving. If I lock my keys inside... that's my problem. STOP PUTTING THESE DAMN "CHIMES" IN OUR CARS!
Subaru is BY FAR the WORST. I've been in a 2006 outback that beeps unless everyone in the car is buckled. Yes... that includes when the car is in PARK while waiting for the car to warm up on a -15F winter day. Starts beeping as soon as you put the key in the ignition. Utterly ridiculous.

  • How is this truck for mileage if you granny it? How do you like it?

  • @HedgehogOutdoors It's a 2003 tacoma 2.7L (4cyl) 5spd

highest I've got so far is 24mpg on the highway (not exceeding 70mph)

20mpg is achievable around the city in warmer weather if you keep your shifts below 2000rpms

lowest I got was 13mpg city (very cold winter -15F, & I wasn't driving slow)

Averages about 15-17mpg city in winter & 17-20mpg city (warmer weather), Usually 19-24mpg highway depending if I go 60-70mph or 90+mph.

I'll pm you a writeup I did a while ago.

  • @lifeisgood070 wow. might as well get a v6 with that kind of mpg. lol

  • @truepyro28 yah your right. I was surprised as well. But I did just come back from the 120k mile service & I had a misfiring spark plug in 1 cylinder. I also don't think the transmission, front differential, or rear differential fluid has been changed in the last 60,000 miles. I bought this car used in nov. It runs a lot smoother now, but I haven't tested the mpg's. I'll try to let you know how it is in a month. Either way I doubt I'll see high 20's or low 30's - even though I'm not lifted.

  • @lifeisgood070 my friends nissan with the v6 gets 1 mpg better than my 84 nissan with the 2.4l 4 banger, lol.

  • @truepyro28 heh yah. Bigger engines don't have to run at such high rpms. Often times they are more efficient because the of the large torque they create just from engine/piston inertia. I know first hand how much driving a 4 cylinder on hilly freeways blows compared to a v6 or v8. But I can't afford much more right now.

Besides that - the L4 in this truck hauls. I've practically idled up huge inclines. But the brakes aren't fun towing above 2000lbs.

  • States PA, DE, & NY seem good so far

---> Can have visual OR audible warnings

Massachusetts (MA) looks like a no go

Search for your states department of motor vehicles online

    & read the inspection criteria

I just pressed "ctrl+F" and searched for "audible"

  • ***WARNING***

Technique 3 - might make your car fail State Inspection!

    Ex: some states like NY.

    ***SOLUTION***

Keep your speaker until your next inspection.

If you fail, take it to a local garage (non-dealership) & pay someone off. $20-$50 usually works well. I know tons of ppl that do it with racing exhausts, undercar lights, super powerful headlights, etc.

--> Will update when I have inspection <--

  • No negative effects so far (seriously doubt there will be any).

    Car is much more pleasant/quiet.

Also note: If you really do not trust yourself with an expensive car circuit board (even though all circuit boards & components follow the same basic laws & this is safe)....

I've heard putting super glue or a rolled up ear plug or some kind of silicone damper inside the buzzer (or ontop to block the hole) is supposed to work pretty well. Deadens sound. Does not eliminate it. GL! Hope this vid helps
