  • Who is narrating this? The voice sounds familiar.

  • @gjc82071 That's Christopher Plummer, he's being interviewed too - start watching at 11:10. Fellow piano player, also an actor (that's mentioned later, when Oscar is composing a score for a movie Christopher Plummer is in)

  • What's the song at 23:15

  • @peev2 Sorry, don't know what song that is - but i will try and find out soon.

  • May I please ask what is the title of the emotional piece at the end of this video, the one played with the credits? Thank-you.

  • @pianotuner101 That's "When Summer Comes" - a tune that Oscar wrote in 2002. There's him performing it from "A Night In Vienna" in my videos, YouTube won't accept the link in here for some reason (video ID would be FyzGjTQu1Cs )

  • @malcolmprince68 Coltrane died of Liver Cancer. Drug use more than likely played some part in his untimely death indirectly.

  • Magic. What an inspiration for any artist. A.

  • @pianotuner101 shut up you may not ask anything

  • the horowitz of jazz

  • Damn that Gleeman Pentaphonic synth is sooo rare these days!

    Not even a 100 made...

  • 27:53 "Herb Ellis left the trio ... booze..."

I grew up in the 50's and 60's listening to the OP trio. I was thrilled to go see Ellis in Nashville's "Exit / Inn" club about 1980. I had a front row seat. When he came out, he was a stumbling drunk. He slogged through 2 tunes. Then dropped the guitar, made a disgusting comment and walked off the stage.

  • He was the best! Thankyou for this wonderful biography.

  • Fantastic and informative; but the filmmakers should know that John Coltrane died of cancer, NOT heroin addiction. Oscar seemed to be one of the few really famous artists who never had a drug addiction period in his career, which is something to be proud of!
