Maryland's newly licensed CPAs pledge their commitment to the public interest and ethical conduct at an offical swearing-in ceremomy. Highlights included remarks by Chief Accountant of the US Department of Labor (also a Maryland CPA), Ian Dingwall and the oath administered by the Stanley Botts, Commissioner of Occupational & Professional Licensing of the Maryland Department fo Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (DLLR).
Actually it is both impressive and reinforces the fact that CPAs have a responsibility to protect the public interest. I guess you would have had to been there - You should know that our image among businesses, investors and the public at large is the best it has ever been and happens to be the highest among any business categories. Our image is actually much different that the "nerdy" image you refer to.
