I make firewood a lot too, and I was taught a better way- make a mark on a side of a saw- from tip of blade to that far how long logs should be. When sawing- put saw along the log and you see how long you must cut. It saved hell of a lot of time for me.

Google, for example, "ATMOS DC 75SE" and see a fireplace, well, more exactly a "wood gasifying boiler" that will take metre length firewood... Another commonly used lenght is half metre wood. A lot of people use these connected to accu-tanks to produce warm water and heating.
@DinkySuperstar They split those then cut them in thirds. Euro fireplaces are no bigger than ours, they just add a couple of un-needed steps(sell more equeptment that way)
