@axzck As a once-upon-a-time sax player myself, I'd rate him as technically 'not bad' and musically and inventively 'very, very good'. Best ever? Not in a million years.

@axzck certainly within 'rock' music, he doesn't play too jazzy or too 'raspy' which is the usual thing ... I always think that VDGG music is about 'painting' the Hammill song rather than playing as backing or waiting for the big solo moment ... everything in VDGG fits neatly together to make sense of the song, no more so than with Man-Erg and its schizoid shape ...

An amazing song, group and video. I saw Van Der Graaf, the Trio in Pittsburgh last year and let me tell you, I am blessed enough to witness these musicians alive in concert.
