  • The trait of high sensitivity is an inherited trait so I'm going to guess that if not in your immediate family unit there are some HSP in your family tree... it's sometime interesting to search them out because they are kindred spirits and you may understand each other better than maybe you did in the past. Just a thought. All my best wishes to you! and I hope you have a very nice weeken! Jim

  • Are any of the following traits of an hsp; hyper-vigilance, hyper-focus, distractibility, divergent thinkers, insomnia, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, racing thoughts, specific speech traits (not completing sentences, being tongue tied, swift topic changes) the need to/emphasis on categorizing things?

  • Yes, I've heard of and run across in different HSPs all of the mentioned characteristics and some have many or just a couple. In my coaching practice with HSPs they learn how to make rational rather than emotional decisions which really seems to help! All the best, Jim

  • Hi Amber, Glad you contact YouTube! I feel badly you're having trouble posting a comment! All the best, Jim

  • I often have felt like my brain lags behind other peoples.

But deep down i always knew i had brain power, but it doesn't coexist with what i realistically have to achieve.

I kind of feel like i have two sides. Its like i have this big empty space in my brain that just goes wild with thoughts and things.

but when it comes to more acute skills like math i can keep up, but i feel like i have to push so hard.

    hmmm,

  • i cant believe its took me so long to find this out... thankyou

  • Hi "Pluvsl2007,"

Did you mean "there is no 'proof' what lies deep down."?

Actually there is more and more "proof" about the trait of high sensitivity including a nice 8 page article in the August 2011 issue of "Psychology Today" and another nice article about sensitive children int he Nov./Dec. issue of "Scientific American Mind" Both articles you might find interesting and enlightening. All the best, Jim

  • What has been reported by the presenter is observations....there is no prove what lies deep down..

  • The problem with an HSP is that they are much more susceptible to Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I know because my father, an HSP, has that personality disorder.

  • The light-hearted approach of this video helps me to stay open to how my sensitivity can be described, and my perspective can shift...

  • @callihn

and this is why it sucks to be sensitive. It is very hard to get a job. I feel hopeless because of that.

  • Hsps normally dont like going on car rides because of the presence of roadkill. It is very upsetting for them. That is one reason why they like staying at home.

  • Mainly what it (HSP) is is that what some people confuse as being a lonely life is what HSPs describe as living in peace and quiet, which is the BEST lifestyle. Plus, your family and friends will many times include lots of animals and as few humans as possible.

  • @MrOHRA92 HSPs can have anxiety, social or otherwise, but not all people with anxiety are HSPs. Read Elaine Aron's book or check out the tests online to find out more about HSPs.

  • @DyingBeetus

We are capable of developing them and when we do, we have a kind of strength that is rare.

  • Does this have anything to do with social anxiety?
