Saw a multimedia presentation called "Paris Story" located in a building near the opera house. Can't say I would recommend it to visitors. Used pretty old technology, slide projectors, and the history of Paris wasn't very well told. We can suggest that you visit the nearby Fragonard perfume museum. Beautiful collection of old perfume bottles, the personal tour also explains the basics of how they make the fragrances. They then take you to the store to show you their current products.
But we really enjoyed the Galeries Lafayette, similar to an upscale Macy's we would have in the US. -- See Video - The three building shopping complex is located on a major intersection near the opera house. On one corner is a home store, the second a men's store, and on the third is the main store. On the 6th floor of the main building we found a great food court area with wonderful views. On the roof was a restaurant under renovation, but you can also find a large patio for sightseeing. Also in the men's store is a gourmet grocery store. We didn't do much buying here, but it was fun to window shop.
