Wat je nog nodig hebt is een klein stukje hardware, namelijk een IR ontvanger aangesloten op een seriële of USB poort van je PC om de commando's van de afstandsbediening te kunnen ontvangen; een software die de IR ontvanger controleert en een software die de ontvangen commando's 'koppelt' aan je modeltrein besturingssoftware. Dit zou een te lang verhaal worden om dit hier allemaal in detail te bespreken, maar als je eens 'googelt' naar WinLirc en Girder vind je alle details.
