Rehearsal for 7 min performance, recorded at Carnegie Mellon University. Special thanks to Joanna Percher and Alex Otte.
Clean as Snow is a performance that transforms an area of untrodden snow into a pristine projection screen. A performer lies in the snow. An enormous hand attempts to clean the projection surface (i.e., the snow) and effectively remove the performer's body. Using a variety of instruments, the hand finally succeeds in removing the performer, but only after the projection area has been trampled irreversibly. In this piece, the absurd and futile desire to control our environment converges with a paradoxical human pursuit of the "untouched" natural world.
