Part 4 of a 4 part series on how to build a fish pond.
This video shows the finished pond working and explains the workings of the pump and filter system. It also has the finished rockery which will get planted up in the spring.
Stay tuned - the end has some out-takes.
The pond will be drained out and refilled to remove any cement residue, then left running for a couple of weeks before adding the fish.
Check out the other pond videos on my channel - there are dozens.
Thanks for watching.

  • Great video cant wait to build my new pond you gave me great ideas thanks.

  • No worries, thanks for watching and appreciating.

  • Ok great thanks so would that be ok for koi thanks a bunch

  • Unless you live in an area where it gets super cold in winter or chill the water by removing water from the deep part and plunging it through freezing air, should be no worries. 1.5m width could ideally be bigger though considering koi generally get up to 3' long in good conditions.

  • great series, after christmas i am building a thin pond that is 1.5 metres wide, 10 metres long and 1 metre deep it will be bought 18000 litres can u recommend a filter or do u think i would need 2 each end keep the vids coming thanks

  • From the dimensions you have there, it works out at 15.000 litres so a Filtoclear 30.000 would be my first choice. Provided the pump was at one end and the filter return was at the other, you will only need one filter.

The Aquamax Eco range of pumps can draw from 2 places at once as explained in this video so if your cascade / filter return was in the middle, you could use the pump to draw from the 2 ends, no worries.

  • Ok thanks I will update when we get started thanks for all the help

  • "sometaneously" lololol Good job on the pond!

  • I would drop a bit of water out of the pond to give you space to work on your cascade and just cement it up. After a week or so, you could run water down it and do a 50% water change, switch off and repeat after another week or so. Should be no worries.

  • Hi i realy loved both last 2 covers on pond building they both turned out great. I have a question, you obviusly build with cement wisout a fish or plants inside. I have them alredy in, so that poses a litl problem hehe.

Well i still need to finish up my waterfall eg cement all stones in there, so water goes more on top then underneth stones. I wonder if i can live fish and plants inside, if i will be using waterfall next spring and not these year.
