20 April 1990 was Andy Crane's last day as presenter of Children's BBC, after a 2.5 year stint. Here's the last link of the day, out of Australian comedy-drama Round The Twist.

Newsround presenters Roger Finn and Terry Baddoo join Andi Peters, Edd and Wilson wishing Andy well. There's a reprisal of the low-budget "credits" sequence before a false count is revealed and a rather large cake appears!

  • It is Andy on the symbol into Neighbours!

  • I was "next door" during this link watching it all happen live on a visit to Television Centre. Fantastic memories - 20.04.90!

  • ...did that guy just say "bloody good job" on Children's TV?

  • wow - 21 years ago in 2011...

is it me or did the 90s last forever and the 00s go by in the blink of an eye? i'm 28 at the moment (5.25pm GMT, Tuesday 11th December 2010). i suppose it's a symptom of getting older. it's great to relive all these old telly moments and old childrens programmes (Rainbow, Postman Pat, Pigeon Street etc) but sometimes it does make me feel like crying...

any room behind the cake, Andy?

  • andi peters just wants andy crane to get the hell out so he can take his place

  • why did they call it the broom cupboard

  • Ed the Duck and his bloody annoying fart noises

  • he said bloody

  • Out of interest, why did Andy Crane not to the voice over leading into Neighbours? I was under the impression the CBBC presenter always did that.

  • A month later, he appeared in the ITV Telethon, announced as a new member of the Motormouth team from autumn 1990.

  • Seriously Andy Crane was the best. Andy Peters on the other hand was just all over the place; a complete idiot as that clip shows.

  • Well, at least he was on Bad Influence!
