Here is a video of how I burst my guitars. You don't always need to spray to get the desired effect. This is a 5A flame maple top that I stain black and then sand back. Then I add layers of Blue and Black to get it right

  • 3:32 Whats with the milk?

  • @AppleTheSause Its glue

  • This is a great tutorial video. wish I could see the complete finished product. I play bass, but just started to learn guitar for fun. I want to build my own, or get a template from GuitarFetish and make my own. I'm wondering, where do you get your paints/stains? How hard are painting/staining bursts? I'm only fifteen, so resources are kind of limited. >.>

Get back at me when ever you get the chance.

    Thanks, Austin.

  • @13YZRacer get the stewmac catalog and order from there. There are cheaper places such as ebay but you will have a field day with them

  • Thanks BigD, awesome tutorial! Don't suppose you've got any hints on doing a prs style grey/black fade?

  • @AdamBlindDivide there is a grey transtint that you can buy. I would use that one. Or buy black stain and sand it back like I do here. Then just seal it.

Or do the last coat with a really dilute black that might work.

    Test on scrap

  • Now that I'm rewatching this video I also was wondering if you could have started the clear coat without sanding at 13:13...if you liked that color. Or should you sand it before the clear cloat

  • At the end of the video, you have the guitar sanded down with the color you like. What did you do to finalize the body? I plan to do this to an SG, which I believe does not have a binding the way yours does. I'm going to do the same color as yours and just black on the back. Did you just clear coat the guitar after you had the color you liked? DId you clear coat with layers and sand in-between? I hope mine ends up looking like your finished product

  • @Bitchflakes666

Ok. I haven't gotten started on anything yet, no job = no money :/ but thanks for the input

  • @13YZRacer i built one around the same age and i would suggest not getting anything from stew mac very unreliable and poor quality

  • @ForWhomTheBellTollss this is a old Les Paul style model

  • @ForWhomTheBellTollss It's a dual cutaway les paul

  • I'd buy that. Definately.

  • the title says "les paul" this is not a "les paul"
