Yes, it is a gift. And lucky for us we are just as "alive" after we shed our bodies of flesh as we are when we are tied to a mortal body. MOST people who have near-death experiences even go so far as to say that they had never felt more "alive" than when they were out of their physical bodies. The feeling of "aliveness" is porportional to our feeling of freedom. They say that beyond the physical realm our sense of freedom is so much greater, thus is our sense of "aliveness."
