USW Local 6500 Members and Community joined hands on January 13th 2010 in the streets of Sudbury Ontario Canada to mark their 6 months on strike against Vale Inco. The Brazilian company bought Inco in 2006 and since has proceeded to dismantle the workforce and the community. In the first 2 years of operation, they made 4.3 billion dollars and decided at contract time that we were not sustainable and put the workforce on an underserved strike. The concessions hit all aspects of the workforce. Two tier pensions, nickel bonus, C.O.L.A., transfers, safety and health,grievance procedures.
