  • He needs to hold the tubing closer to the tip with his right hand and squeeze to make it easier to connect to the cannula. Takes lots of practice. Also @ tinky 246, there's really no need to hold it in a saline bath....it would probably be successful, but it's not really convenient.

  • It is very easy if one person slowly opens the clamp on patients cannula while the other patient is connecting. If there are some smaller bubbles in the tubing und the inflow-cannula you an open all clamps before starting the pump. Then you´ll have a backflow (veno-arterial-system) an bubbles will be trapped in the oxygenator.

  • i know you are trying to not include air bubble, but could this have been done under a container with the saline or whichever liquid you are injecting to connecting the cannula?
