Trying to track enemies manually with a meagre 1MW Pulse Laser... how very noobish, something I tried in the beginning as well. Just mark them with your nav and autopilot them to make the ship follow them. ... some consider that cheating, but it's forgivable sometimes, especially if you only have 1mw-pulse.

@MetallSwede The autopilot tactic only works in Frontier, not First Encounters, it was a cheap exploit that they nerfed in the sequel. The weapon being used is a 5mw pulse laser.

This games concepts had/has the potential to be the roots of a game that would become the best game ever. I get withdrawal if i dont play this game for a long time. played since 95! Yarr!! >B)~

I think Elite IV should by now be awarded the all time vaporware award, instead of Duke Nukem Forever. Was first announced in 1998, so 12 years and no show.

Never worked in First Encounters. There was no real gameplay enhancements made for FFE, except bug-corrections like the pause-target-autopilot exploit, which was the only thing that made the game playable. Somehow the enemies always had more delta-V than you, and you could never match their delta-V. In First Encounters using a lesser stardreamer setting usually ended up in less encounters with these random enemies that always match your speed, exept when they just tail you.
