@AlexBurkeNo1Fan That scene in the film is actually what Frodo sees in the book as he passes into the West on the ship. Some people think it's a metaphor for dying. Gandalf and Pippin never actually have that conversation in the book but they liked the passage in the book so much they decided to give it to Gandalf and Pippin.
Pippin: I never thought it would end like this.
Gandalf: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path... One that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass... And then you see it.
Pippin: What? Gandalf?... See what?
Gandalf: White shores... and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
Pippin: Well, that doesn’t seem so bad.
Gandalf: No, no it doesn’t.
