A fantastic song by Howard Devoto (Magazine) From the 4AD album It'll end in tears.
I thought it deserved a fitting video to go along with the song.

  • A "fantastic song" from 1975 written by Alex Chilton of Big Star, thank you very much. Alex Chilton also wrote Kangaroo. Haven't you heard of Big Star, really? And by the way, this is NOT a song about death camps or the Jewish Holocaust so iIm not sure this is that much of a fitting video to go along the song...

  • @DaveSten5993 Fair enough, it's your video and your interpretation of the song. And a song called Holocaust is open to more than one interpretation, I suppose... But then I don't agree when you say it doesn't matter who wrote it... Ask your pal from The Chameleons how he'd react if some other artist would achieve cult status covering one of his songs years later... And in the end most people would believe it's actually the other guy's song... Anyway, I didn't mean to upset you, take care.

  • big lie!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gbayemporiumeBay Really? I've always thought the Placebo version was better than this, I mean closer to the spirit of the original, Placebo's was a fan cover. Devoto, on the other hand, sounds too prone to self-parody to be sincere, and those mid1980s synths have dated badly...

  • this is a horrible version of the song. the Placebo one is even worse.

  • Ok perhaps I should of said.....a song sung by Devoto and not by Devoto....does it matter.....and do we not have a choice.....i mean...My interpertation of the song is about the Holocaust...and not about a single person falling apart.....but a whole generation that was ripped apart, while the world sat back.....sorry 4 getting this so wrong.....I have been a Soldier for 23 years and Ive been to places ripped apart by war....and i like my video and what it stands for....so please get over it

  • i can't see the connection between death camps and this song... maybe you could try paying more attention to the song's lyrics... and as said before, it's a Big Star song, not Magazine's.

  • wow somebody totally missed the boat here.

  • @zana16sioyx

Well, you know, no disrespect here, it's just that the song written by Alex Chilton is NOT about death camps. "You're a holocaust" is just an image, it's like "your life is falling apart in the worst possible way." You should listen to the original version by Big Star, it's much rawer, much closer to the bone, like the essence of pain. I also think the original is actually much better than this rather affected 1980s thing, but then that's just my opinion.

  • @MickHaines I don't know anymore what to believe and what not.....It is crazy what's happening, with this....for me Indians genoctony is something similar.......so what can an american , or an english and others can understand!

  • I don't know what you really mean, but this video ,with this song made me still crying. From the beginning!!!! I hope you are not jokin as somebody eslses...greek jewish that exists cause her father escaped to Israel...Do you know how many don't exist anymore? WHOLE FAMILIES!!!!!!
