  • graffiti did not start in new york it started in the phillies

    Venom-

  • Thank you for the comment. I will pass the note to the producer of the segment. However, It was best known by the general public because of NYC and the rise of b-boy/rap culture. It could always be argued where exactly it started. It could be argued that it didn't originate in America if you want to get historical....it could go back to the ancient Egyptian times and say that the drawings on walls were also a form of graffitti.

  • 'Banksy from London'? Typical fucking Americans.

Anyway, I graffiti, and yes; I believe it is vandalism, you cannot justify it as art by saying 'but it looks good' since that is purely opinion. If I think a smashed window looks good and lob a brick through your patio doors, does that make it alright?

Any who has something against seeing graffiti on abandoned buildings needs to get over themselves, companies are always putting their ads in your fucking face, we are entitled to do the same.

  • Further, Art is always purely opinion. Think about it. Some say the work of American painter Jackson Pollock looks like the work of a child; while others believe it is a masterpiece. Just like some think graffiti is art and some feel it is vandalism. Art is in the eye of the beholder. Companies continue to put ads in our face because it works and it's proven we as human beings [as much as we hate to admit it] do respond to advertising. otherwise it wouldn't exist.

  • Then there are those who say 'Both, it is a piece of art which is inappropriately placed on someone else's property'. These people are smart, open-mined individuals who know what the fuck they're talking about. Some may say 'Yes, but what if its badly drawn', well as you probably know art is based on opinion. I for one think Picasso's drawings look like shit, and wouldn't pay £5 for one, but there are people who are prepared to pay millions.

  • I appreciate all your comments. Thanks for making people think!

  • tagers are no talent hacks. Graffiti art = cool. Tags uncool

  • @mysteryDXD graffiti started B.C. Since cavemen wrote on walls...

  • The question is ludicrous and misleading. The definition of 'graffiti,' is: 'writing or drawings - sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public place.' If a person alters - IN ANY WAY, another person's property, without their consent, it is a defined crime, and not open to interpretation. Posing it in this manner simply enables those who do it to justify it. It is equivalent to asking a rapist if they find joy in raping another human being, of course they do, the raped does not.

  • fuck gang shit it gives graffiti a bas name and graffiti is a vandalic art

  • graffiti is not ART its VANDELISM <3 & VANDALISM is awsomee <3

  • Wow. a new broadcast that wasnt completely biased on the subject. never seen that. and probably never will again..

  • no it didnt start in philly actually , yu guys need to chill, it started from ur average joe in any neighbourhood by painting his name using whatever and wherever. thats graffiti. the only thing that evolved graffiti to how it is now is because of the internet and books etc. america is a huge influence definatly. but graffiti cant be justified as to where it started it comes out of anywhere.

  • @mysteryDXD nope

  • 0:51 "Hey I know, guys! Let's show a kickflip! Instant street cred!"
