Grade 3 ABRSM piano scales and broken chords 2011 -2012
B flat major scale has B flat and E flat. Scale should be played two octaves separate hands and both hands.
B flat major arpeggios should be played 2 octaves separate hands only.
Right hand starts on B flat below middle C and left hand starts 1 octave lower.
Fingers used in the B flat major scale:
Right Hand: 2 123 1234 123 1234 Left Hand: 321 4321 321 4321 2
Fingers used in B flat major arpeggios:
Right hand: 2 124 124
Left Hand: 321 321 2

  • Thank you for this demonstration. In my syllabus I see that I have a choice between harmonic and melodic minors but for major scales it doesn't specify anything so far. Does this means I only need to know the natural major or does it means I have to be able to play them all? (natural, harmonic, melodic, biharmonic etc)
