Created from footage I shot the evening of 7/31/11 - The last skate at Cal Skate, Milpitas, CA. Cut to 'It Takes Two' by Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock.

I went to skate, not to shoot, but I'm glad I brought the camera anyway. Hopefully these clips bring a smile to your face, as they have mine - and maybe they'll help people who haven't been understand what we're always on about.

To the management and staff, and all the great friends I've made over the years - you're all family. That floor and the building around it was a home away from home. Any time I was in town I knew I could stop in for a warm welcome and the best skating anywhere.

Thanks for the memories!

  • This was such a good vid. Thanks for making it!

  • Wait... Cal Skates gone? wtf? I haven't been back to Milpitas in a while, but why did they take down Cal Skate?

  • I see me! I can't believe my first time skating there in 8 years was the last night I'd ever get to skate there. ): I wish they didn't close it. My parents went there when they were kids & so did I. So much history there.

  • Wow, LOL you don't see that here. THAT'S AMAZING!

  • Wow, this was the site of my last big crash, full speed at far end, right front truck came off, nose dive straight into my face, really bleep hurt, blood + stitches. Stopped skating 8 years ago to take care of my mom who passed in October, so thinking of skating again and found this. We used to go to Cal-Skate once or twice per week along with Santa Clara Skate World (closed), San Ramon Golden Skate and San Jose Skate. Thanks for the memories. My name's Mike Shaw, so long live Clan Shaw :)

  • This video brought more than a smile to my face. I didn't realize the place was closing. I drive by there every so often. If I'd known it was closing, I would have come back for one more skate. I used to go there regularly for the Sunday night adult skate during the late 1980s and mid 1990s.
