This is the first raku firing of 2008 and a second attempt at recording the process with a much better camera. There is also an appearance by Tony's mom firing with us.

  • Wow!!! What is that stuff you throw on it when it's in the can?? What a talented artist!Mom does a great job! :) Celia

  • Sawdust is tossed onto the pot to aid in the reduction process [starving the pot for oxygen].

  • I used to do a lot of Raku. I bought a small raku jar for my neice's Christmas present tonight and it brought back memories of our Cal Poly State University Pottery Club wood firing raku on the beach! I was so blessed to be around such creative and supportive people. Many hours were shared in that pottery lab! Thank you for sharing the process so people can learn and appreciate! :) Shannon

  • nice.

  • love this. how do you know when the pots are ready to be removed from the kiln?

  • Wow... that was a really nice result... That looks great.

  • we did this at school but we used hay and newspapers instead of saw dust.

  • This is absolutely fascinating to see, and I admire your talent. (This is BoyGrows Up, by the way.) And it sure is pretty out thataway.
