I used to do a lot of Raku. I bought a small raku jar for my neice's Christmas present tonight and it brought back memories of our Cal Poly State University Pottery Club wood firing raku on the beach! I was so blessed to be around such creative and supportive people. Many hours were shared in that pottery lab! Thank you for sharing the process so people can learn and appreciate! :) Shannon

we did this at school but we used hay and newspapers instead of saw dust.

Sawdust is tossed onto the pot to aid in the reduction process [starving the pot for oxygen].
