The lyrics, below, say it all, but I believe this song, "1/2 Way to 50" is my generations "Like A Rolling Stone". Like Tyler Durden said in "Fight Club" "Dammit, a whole generation pumping gas and waiting tables", and we can add, seen too much, too soon. We are over-funned, over-fed and over-sold.
1/2 Way to 50
So you're down in the New York city
Where the dreams seem nice and the girls sell pretty
Hopin' to get your names in the sky
But before you get there your dreams run dry
Out there runnin' like dogs in the sun
Chasin' the bones of the forgotten ones
And in the cafe's just outside
The candles wave a soft goodbye
And you're
1/2 way to 50 and 3/4's dead
With angry blood planets that spin in your head
And you can't remember a thing that you've said
So you run, run, run to catch up with the sun
But it's over said and done
You had your chance at fortune and fame
But everything to you was just a game
You never realized the passing years
And now that you do it fills your heart with fear
All the hope and dreams you knew
Are lost to the skies of gray and blue
So lift your glass and wave goodbye
To the long lost years on the other side
And you're
1/2 way to 50 and 3/4's dead
With angry blood planets that spin in your head
And you can't remember a thing that you've said
So you run, run, run to catch up with the sun
But it's over said and done
Now the time goes by
As the cracked egg opens the child dies
And what has come to take its place
Is the reason you can't look at your own face
So now it's deep inside of you
The stone lead reason black and blue
But you can't get back the days gone by
As you drown in the river of the tears you cry
And you're
1/2 way to 50 and 3/4's dead
With angry blood planets that spin in your head
And you can't remember a thing that you've said
So you run, run, run to catch up with the sun
But it's over said and done
