历史上新疆地区本来都是和平的佛教国家，中国在这些地方只用很少­的军力保持丝绸之路的畅通，后来伊斯兰教向东传播，佛教国家自然­不能抵挡，就和汉人、满人政权产生了冲突。伊斯兰教的特点是把人­的社会生活和宗教生活紧密的结合起来，历史上还没有一个国家在皈­依伊斯兰之后还能转化为别的信仰或者生活方式。
