A few highlights from my matches in the Canadian Open Taiji Championship held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on November 24th, 2007.

Although I won two Gold Medals in both the Fixed-Step and Moving-Step Push Hands categories in the 120-140 lbs weight divisions, I realized how hard it was to stay calm, cool and collected in a competition environment. It's easy to see that I used way too much force and energy and not enough patience and listening to use the proper Tai Chi principles that we learn in class.

So it's back to a lot more training before the next competition!

We study at the Ji Hong Tai Chi College
(Richmond Hill, ON, Canada) 基宏太極拳學院 under Chief Instructor Sifu Bao Sen Liang 梁寶森師傅

  • really nice.. i do judo but your body feel must be very tuned... well done

  • i like tai chi. but it is a partial aspect of the whole of martial arts. i study mainly barra gracie jiu jitsu and wing chun. also partial aspects of the whole of martial arts. being primarily a jeet kune do practioner i love all martial arts. dont forget this is a very very limited area of combat. its just pushing and pulling ect. if you dont agree then you are blinded. nuff said.

  • Why judge rule not set Taiji way. If this kind happen should just stop. It is no meaning to push hand like this. I am so sad can not see any competition better and close to real Taiji priciple

  • i see a lot of grabbing, holding, aggression, and zero rooting ability. DISLIKE!

  • @akaprana I agree.

  • I always want to know. what do this have to do with the art of Tai chi? I started doing push hands, because of what I heard about Tai chi. I enjoy doing push hands because it really works. But this is not it.

  • Not much technique, More like a shoving match than push hands.
