It's not often I appreciate a faux calypso. This's a notable exception. Louis Jordan was a master.

I found a copy of this song in a pile of Louis Jordan 78's
I always liked LJ, but this is my favorite cut of all his recordings.

My mom used to sing this song to us when we were little kids (a LONNNNGGG time ago) and made up words as she sang it. This is the first time I've heard the original version. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I have never heard this before. I was born in Trinidad & Tobago, where Calypso originated. What island did this come from? Who is this?

Luis Jordan was an american musician, apparently he covered the song from someone else, his version being the most popular the record gives credit to Joe Willoughby-Louis Jordan-Dr. Walt Merrick hope this helps
