Now I have wired up the relays for the audio switching and put the connectors in, it now has a practical use. The power supply I made for it seems to be very stable, there's no hum induced by the relay coils. I can now select a source and/or record it onto a tape, I can copy from one tape to another, and also, due to how it I designed it, it can do something that I didn't even think it would do. I'll show what that is at the end of the video. it still doesn't have the amplifying parts in it. I ordered a couple of amplifier circuit kits because I still have had no luck with the LM383 chips. I made them work with point to point wiring, but when I put those amplifier circuits onto a veroboard/stripboard, they just kept making weird noises again and sucked all the power from my power supply. So now I'm just waiting for my stuff to arrive.

  • Couldn't you have used a few simple rotary switches? I mean they would take up a lot less space and wouldn't require any power. Just a thought.

  • That thought had crossed my mind, but I wanted to do something a bit different.

  • "a bit different" is always good like the links I sent you.

  • You have exceptional patience to figure out and lay out that switching system. Congratulations!

  • That's awesome! Those switches are working nicely! ANd I'm glad I had the honors of my voice running through it and the Peto-Scott!

  • The cassette was overloading the meters during the first demo...the reel-reel sounded miles better during playback. Well done for getting the amp to the pre-amp stage! Can't wait till the amp bit is done.

  • the lm383 is a td2030. it occilates really easy.

  • That's quite ingenious for a homemade construction... even without the amplifier part, it is very useful just for the things you demonstrate.

  • Really nice that it works now!!! I hope you'll have more luck with the amplifier kits you've ordered! But the selectors are working perfectly!
