I really don't want to work in a couple of hours, because all I want to do is write. I'm going to share a little secret with you all, I should be writing a research paper but I am procrastinating ;) How many of you have a degree in procrastination? :P

LATER THAT DAY....
"You did what?!" Hayden exclaimed.
I sat on the couch in her apartment, hiding my face under a pillow in embarrassment. As good as it felt to pour a drink on Ella, I was still embarrassed that I let her push me to that point.
"What did she do for you to pour a drink over her head?!" Hayden asked.
As I held the pillow to my face, I had completely forgotten that Hayden didn't know about that day at the airport with Jesse. She didn't know about that or all of the letters. This was a situation she was completely in the dark about.
"The entire scandal about the married man," I mumbled into the pillow, "she demanded that I stay away from Jesse."
I took my head out of the pillow after waiting for a response from Hayden. The only thing I saw in her face was confusion and I didn't blame her.
(HAY) Why would she tell you to stay away from him? Because he is going to marry her and she thinks you will steal him?
(AUG) Kind of. Hang on.
I walked toward the front door and reached into my purse, pulling out a bundle of letters wrapped in a large rubber band. Walking back toward the couch, I placed the letters on the coffee table.
(HAY) What is that?
(AUG) Letters. 99 letters from Jesse.
(HAY) From Jesse?! What could he possibly have to say in 99 letters?!
I could feel a lump in my throat, hesitation to explain why Jesse had written 99 letters to me. And I was hesitant to explain why I hadn't even opened them.
(AUG) The day that I left to go to Los Angeles three years ago, Jesse had went with me and my parents to the airport. But before I managed to leave, Jesse told me something that would forever change our friendship.
(HAY) And.... what was that?
(AUG) That he was in love with me.
Hayden struggled to get words out of her mouth, but the only thing she was able to do was drop her jaw.
(HAY) Were those letters written before or after that day at the airport?
(AUG) After. He began sending them the day that I left. He sent them for 99 days straight, but stopped after that.
(HAY) What do they say?
(AUG) Good question. I haven't opened them.
(HAY) What?! Why?!
(AUG) I don't do well with distance. I felt like I had to chose between my dreams and Jesse. And when I chose my dreams, I knew that I couldn't do a long distance relationship. And on top of that I was scared. I had never been in love with someone and I didn't want to ruin our friendship.
I could feel my eyes burn as I looked at the letters on the table. I wanted to open the letters so badly, but I knew that if I did then the feelings I had would come flooding back. And I couldn't allow them to. Because we were no longer close and he was engaged to a psychopath.
(HAY) So what, are you just going to keep them wrapped in a rubber band and never open them?
(AUG) Well, I don't know. They use to be in a shoebox, but I couldn't fit the shoebox in my purse. So technically I took a big step by taking them out of the box.
(HAY) Well, now is the time for you to take the next step and open them.
Open them? I couldn't. I just couldn't allow myself to slip that rubber band off and tear them open. I had spent several nights in a row, crying and torn between whether I should open them or not. I use to be so lost and confused. I just couldn't allow myself to go back to that point in my life.
(HAY) How about we start off with one?
(AUG) How about we don't?
Hayden reached for the bundle of letters and slipped out the very first one.
(HAY) Open just this one.
My heart sunk as she ran her fingers along the seam of the envelope, slowly opening it. I wanted to tell her to stop, but the words just couldn't escape me. Probably because apart of me wanted her to open it.
(HAY) I'm going to read it out loud.
I nodded my head and buried my head back into the pillow. I told myself that no matter what those letters said, I wouldn't allow my heart to fall for him all over again.
(HAY) "Reasons why I have fallen in love with you: Reason #1: No matter what situation, you always manage to smile through it. Whether it be good or bad, you never fail to smile. And that smile has lit up my life."
