Mate, I'm a Chilean, living in Australia my whole life. Trust me, there will always be people who will criticise you on how you speak, even if you are speaking with your native accent, even if they are from the same country (just a different part of it). Just like "Yankee" English and "British" English. In Aus, people from SA (State) and NSW (State) speak with different accents. Each one thinking they're superior to the other. Don't listen to the hating, just keep doing what you do.

U can go there and learn Spanish. I'm Dominican I know how speak properly but as many Dominicans I choose not to, sometimes we're just lazy and prefer to talk slang!!

There's dominicans who speak very very proper. It depends where you were raised. Different parts of DR have different ways of speaking. And you should totally study there. Dominicans are the seconds happiest nationality on earth after Costa Ricans lol. (Saw that in a magazine)
