Hey everyone!

I finally finished this huge project and I am ready to share it with you!

This video features a 3 Lap race with 8 contestants on one of F-Zero's most famous locations: Planet Big Blue. Expect explosions, non stop action and an amazing sense of speed.

I hope I can live up to all of your expectations!

And now, turn up the volume, kill the lights and enjoy!

Please don't forget to hit the "like" button and comment!!!

This is a fan movie.

------------

Some facts about Project Big Blue:

Planning of the race track started in January 2006. As I was new to Cinema 4D most of the work didn't look good, so I deleted everything in the following December and started again from scratch. Designing the race track was completed in early 2008, along with 8 racers. After that school was killing a lot of my free time, so progress was quite slow. So until May 2010 I was able to design a few more buildings. After my A-Levels, however I was able to do a lot more, so I made huge progress in the Summer of 2010 and created my own racer, based on "Red Gazelle". The Blue Falcon was modeled around that time as well. In the winter of 2010 I did some more adjustments and started working on this very movie in February 2011 right after creating the teaser trailer.

So there you have it.

5 Years, 800 hours of rendering, 132GB and 15 minutes of HD video files, a lot of frustration as well as fun and most importantly an undescribable feeling of accomplishment.

Thanks to everyone helping me along the way!

I HAVE A LIFE AGAIN!!!

cheers,

Arlo

  • Fuck yes! This is awesome! Would have been nice if things went a little faster. It didn't quite feel like F-Zero speed. But The fact that you pulled this off is an achievement so well is an achievement. (*Bleep bloop!* :P)

One question: Where's Red Gazelle AK II from? Is that a machine from the GBA games based on the anime?

  • @TheWhiteWolf1337 Red Gazelle AK II is designed by me and therefore did not appear in the GBA games or the anime ;-)

  • Call Miyamoto right now and tell him you will be in charge of the next F-ZERO for Wii U :)

    This looks fantastic

  • @AngelO14player you have his number?^^

  • Amazing!

  • What is the new location?!

  • Like MakiRole said, it didn't have the speed or intensity of an actual race, and the lighting could be better, but it's good overall. I also liked the music - a change from what you normally hear used in an F-Zero game or video.

  • Hollywood should hire you if they ever decide to make an F-Zero Movie

  • I like thw fact that almost all the cars are near dead

  • @MakiRole I hate to be "that guy" but I just think that genuine constructive criticism is more helpful. Still this was made a while ago so you've probably moved forwards quite a bit by now.

  • Not bad, but not great either sadly. The positives have pretty much been explained by everybody so far. Negatives that you may wish to work on though: the animation itself was very stiff, it felt as if the racers weren't actually racing, nor did it feel like they were actually on the track (well floating above it). The lighting could do with some work too, also some motion blur would really help. F-Zero is about speed and adrenaline, neither were conveyed here much in this scene.

  • you are soo good go to nintendo and show it and bam!!

  • Wow, fantastic work!

You could get an animation job easily if you showed off this puppy! :D
