@stillbadz i know you posted this comment a year ago but noone gave you a legitimate answer so im going to reply. what he is doing and usually does when he plays bluesy licks like these is he is playing the regular pentatonic scale but adding in notes from the Dorian mode and flatted fifths (or the blues note) it has a very bluesy sound and can be heard in a lot of pauls playing. your welcome.

@stillbadz hey man. yea you dont have to stick to the box, as long as you resolve back to the main key you can play any passing note you want too :)

I dont get it. Isnt he playing inside the A minor pentatonic first box? Why does he bend on the 7 fret on the high e string? That isnt inside the box...
Also when he just random shreds after 3:15 he goes outside the box with several notes. Would someone mind explaining these added notes to me?
