@infiltrat3 then you haven't heard much black metal. They're a solid melodic black metal band, but there's so much other stuff in black metal.

@infiltrat3 then you haven;t heard much black metal. This album isn't that bad, but there's plenty of stuff out there like it, and it lacks the raw aggression of bands like Dodsengel, and the subtle yet effective atmosphere of say..burzum

Whenever I feel like my head is going to explode I come back to this song and feel an intense tranquility. Thank you Naglfar.

My burial place will be the mountains, the forests and the seas
And so my name shall be remembered, for all eternity...

Summoning all devouts of Pan...Ave Naglfar!!

I find it hard to find any reason or motivation to listen to anything this band made after this album. Even if their later work was very well written and produced, this album was unique in a way their later album is no way near. I love this album so much. can never get tired of it

i can see the prints of peter tagtgren the genius producer of this album : )

Black metal indeed has the deepest and most touching lyrics ever written expressed in beautiful melancholy filled with immense brutality which mortals will never be able to comprehend and inhale...

6:03 onward...total annihilation...

God damn right. One of the best BM songs ever.
The riff at 3:05 pretty much kicks any ass around. And it gets better from here.
Check out Abigor, unleashed axe age (nice title) and revealed secrets of the whispering moon (scandinavian morons can't write a title that makes sense, like the japanese).
And 1000 miles from vanessa carlton also kicks ass, but sounds different.
What an amazing song from the best melodic black metal album ever released. Apologies to Dissection for placing it ahead of SOTLB but I think that highly of it I'd just about place it marginally ahead of that other magnum opus also from 1995. Naglfar showed on Vittra and Diabolical how bruality and melody could be juxtapositioned to create something truly unique in the annals of Swedish black/death metal. Cheers for the trip down memory lane!

IMO they're one of if not the greatest Black metal group I've ever heard.
