"Demi really now? here." Selena ask not believe she'd flirt with someone right now.
"I think I know him" walks out. "Wait, Joe?"
Joe turns around and smiles. "I thought you forgot about me"
Demi laughs. "I haven't seen you since graduation." runs up and hugs him.
"well I heard you went off to Brown" Joe says. "Concurring the world yet?"
Demi shakes her head no. "not even closes"
This is why she made Selena move an hour away from where Demi went to high school. She hated seeing people she graduated with because they all knew bout her going to Brown.
"How bout you? You keeping busy?" she asks Joe changing the subject to him.
"nahh not really. I'm taking this year off to get some money then I think I'm gonna travel" he says playing with the garbage bag.
"Really?" Demi asks.
She's haven't talked to anyone from her high school that wasn't madly in love with their college life. It was refreshing to feel like she actually related to Joe.
Joe nods. "College really isn't in the cards for me" he says softly.
Demi smiles. "Believe it or not I actually know how you feel"

"Can I keep him away from her?" Selena asks her mother.
No... her mother didn't have to answer for Selena to know her response.
Mandy shakes her head no.
Selena walks around the room frustrated. "I bet he's at her house now, giving her some sob story about how his daughters sick and he's heartbroken about it. Hoping that he'll get lucky because he's showing a emotion."
"He's in the waiting room Selena. Now sit down your gonna make yourself sick" Mandy says looking down at her granddaughter.
"He's out there?" Selena asks.
"Yes, he's not a bad father sweetheart. Just a bad boyfriend."
That's true Selena thinks to herself. Justin has been the best when it came to Grace. It's their relationship he was always needing to work on.
"I'm gonna let him in to see her. He's probably worried."
Mandy nods proud her daughter knows the right thing to do.
Selena walks to the waiting room guessing the whole time at which way it actually was. She was in such a rush when she brought Grace in that she hardly remembered where the waiting room even was. Finally she finds it and sees Justin sleeping on a chair with Grace's pink frog under his arms.
Selena takes her phone out of her pocket and takes a picture, laughing. As mad as she was at him she knew they'd still have to talk to each other so she might as well have a funny picture to push ignore to on her phone.
"Just"
Justin jumps up. "Is she alright?!"
Selena nods. "She has a urinary tact infection, they're starting her on antibiotics. I can take her home tomorrow morning."
"Come stay with me tomorrow then please."
Selena shakes her head no.
"Please Sel this has nothing to do with you and me. I know you want to nurse her back to health and so do I so please just say you'll come to my place with Grace tomorrow." Justin begs.
"I really don't want to run into your girlfriend Just" Selena admits.
"Then don't look in the mirror" Justin replies and Selena shakes her head.
"I'm not your girlfriend anymore"
"Sel this is stupid!"
"I'm to tired to fight again, if you want to see Gracie come on"
Justin stands "I'm not trying to fight"
"mhmm" is all Selena says before she walks away.
Justin follows.

Demi laughs and leans forward leaning her head on Joe's shoulder.
"That's horrible!" Demi laughs.
"He never drew on my face again" Joe laughs.
Demi finishes her laughter and smiles at Joe while they sit on the roof of the hospital.
This was Joe's favorite place to go when he's buying time before he has to get more trash from rooms where parents are crying because their kids are sick or child are making arrangements for their last goodbye to the person that loved them. Hospitals are like book covers where the story begins then ends. Sure the in between can be a great story to tell but it doesn't make the end of the story any easier.
"So, I better get back to Gracie" Demi says not really wanting too.
Joe was disappointed but understood. "If you need to pass more time come find me. I'm always here"
"I'll take you up on that one believe me." Demi says getting up and putting her smoke out.
"You should really quit smoking?" Joe says.
"You sound like my Aunt." Demi replies.
Joe stands "I sound like my mother" He laughs while he stomps out his cigarette. "I'm just surprised I guess. You were such a goody goody in school"
Demi nods. "Yeah I was" Not feeling the need to get into why she wasn't anymore she left to go find her family.
