New Scottish National Anthem

A NEW ALTERNATIVE SCOTTISH ANTHEM
"THIS LAND OF SCOTLAND" by Alan Tomkinson
Already approved by many leading sportsman & Scottish MPs including; Alex
McLeish- John Higgins- Findlay Calder- Willie Carson- Walter Smith- Jim Telfer-
Craig Brown- Darren Ferguson- MSP, M Matheson- MSP Murdo Fraser, even The
Scottish Tourist Board" and- one hundred and forty six others. I have tried, with
this composition, to create a stirring anthem which truly represents the hearts and the
wonderful heritage of the Scottish people. And by writing for the pipes, and also
including a little of Auld Lang Syne, I hope that it would be a worthy ambassador for
Scotland, which would instantly be recognised the world over as, "The Scottish
- National Anthem". I have also written the lyrics, the chorus of which is;
MAY THIS LAND OF OURS BE MIGHTY
MAY OUR STRENGH WITH HONOUR SHINE
LONG BE THE GLORY THAT IS SCOTLAND
FOR--AULD--LANG--SYNE.
"HEARING YOUR MUSIC AND YOUR WORDS REMINDS ME OF A
SCOTLAND THAT WAS ONCE A SHINING EXAMPLE ALL OVER THE
WORLD. WE BADLY NEED SOMETHING THAT WILL BRING US BACK
OUR PRIDE AND OUR LOVE FOR OUR NATIVE LAND, AND I BELIEVE
THAT YOUR ANTHEM WILL DO JUST THAT. I SINCERELY HOPE SO".

Of course not everybody may approve, but Scotland. has long needed its own anthem,
and your own approval is important. If you are in agreement with the endorsements of
all of the people listed above, then perhaps you may like to advise others about the
music, and more importantly, write your approval to the Scottish Government at;

INDEPENDENCE for SCOTLAND !

I think when Scotland becomes independent then we really do have to change our national anthem. Flower of Scotland is singing about the past and is kind of sad, but with independence we will need an upbeat positive anthem. Of course it just has to include bagpipes. I really liked your take on a new anthem but not so keen on the keyboard sounding part. The same tune but with a bit more bagpipes would be brilliant for our new anthem.

If we have to change our anthem from Flower of Scotland ( and i think not ) the only other song I personaly would choose is Scotland for Ever sung very well and with great passion by Sydney Devine if you havent heard this its a must and its on youtube.

First, this sounds like every national anthem I've ever heard. Then, why post a version without the words? Just sayin'. Last, and perhaps most important, this song (at least as it stands) is stultifying, not rousing. If you have to lose 'Flower of Scotland' (why?) then why not make the unofficial one official? Of course I mean the Proclaimers' wonderful "500 Miles". From a quick study here at youtube, apparently it's impossible to be too drunk at least to sing the chorus=lager louts at matches!

no likey this...it has too much pomp and ceremony........not stirring at the heart strings enough and actually can you see the boys ar rugby or footie singing this I don't think so..sorry

Flower of Scotland is the best anthem in the world and one that every country is envious of, WHY ON EARTH would you want to change it?
