@Harmonica23 I believe that Maria is the girls mother. The necklace was given to Maria during the war by her Nazi lover whom was killed a few hours later. The girl is their child. The soldier became a zombie after his body was thrown into the Lake of the Damned (aka The God Damned Lake according to the movie). The zombie has no problem killing others, but protects the girl from the other dozen or so zombies.

this film is the stupidest cheesiest shit goin...but i have to be honest....i was a little boy when i saw this first and i was scared shitways ..the only bits i could remember were the soldiers coming outta the lake and the zombie dad with his daughter.....

her father gave her the necklace during the war. He was a nazi, who rose from the lake of the dead to wreak vengeance on the villagers, but "recognised" his daughter because of the necklace. She hadnt aged a day, and her father was a zombie, but its all good!
