On 8 July 2009, politicians from across the world gathered at the UK parliament to hear how climate change is making life harder for many of the world's poorest communities.
In this video, Shorbanu from Bangladesh - who survived the recent Cyclone Aila - tells her story. Shorbanu describes how the devastating impact of Cyclone Aila left her home and possessions destroyed.
Without immediate international action to curb emissions, the effects of climate change are predicted to impact water resources, food production, sea levels, and ecosystems - the effect of which will be catastrophic for billions of people.
Oxfam's climate hearings will bring the voices of those most affected by a changing climate direct to decision makers. Hearings will take place around the world right up to Copenhagen in December 2009 when world leaders have an opportunity to agree a global deal to tackle climate change.
