Demos Warning on Conspiracy Theories - truth lies and the internet - charlie veitch. 30th September 2011.

If young people aren't taught to distinguish between truth and misinformation the consequences can be dangerous. That's the warning from the think tank demos which is concerned that conspiracy theories and propaganda are entering the classroom.

The dangerous consequences of conspiracy theories. Young people are bringing propaganda and conspiracy theories into the classroom.

  • Whenever I question things that seem suspicious to me or I disagree with, I receive lack of care, ignorance, and backlash from my friends. It's as if they're afraid to cross the line, to actually think. For example, I once said sex is everywhere(T.V., movies, advertisements, etc.). Why? To distract as from the real issues, the important things in life of course. At least that's my opinion from what I have experienced and observed.

  • That fox attack is a HOAX not a conspiracy theory. Can they be more thick?

  • Conspiracy = A secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful

Nothing in there is stating as a lie. I used to believe the corporate mainstream media. The UK media is no better than the American media. It's the same.

  • @kwyjibo33 You need to get your information from many sources. You need to hear/opinions from many voices from both sides. Demos is about that.

BTW if you dont like living in an age of cheap energy, free healthcare, a roof over your head, a computer, more food than most can eat, then find another place/time to live. The world is NOT perfect, and if you think that jews are the problem, well...get a gun, but, you will be back here very soon after complaining about someone else.

  • @mastershan87 Thats not quite true and and the point is that thinking logically, and from diverse sources, is what Demos is about.

You have just stated that you are commenting on an article from one of your media sources, maybe they made it up! How do you know that Demos even exists?

  • @1965guitarboy - The dictionary definition of conspiracy is NOT equal to 'lie', and yet this UK news report tries to do exactly that. The Darcus Howe interview is another example of the UK media trying to twist and turn people's words to an agenda. I don't know where you have this idea that the UK media is any 'better' than others. It's the same thing. Did you watch the 'How TV Ruined Your Life' series? So what about the Kremlin, the UK and US media is also government sponsored propaganda.

  • @kwyjibo33 Not interested in the US. RT is funded by the Kremlin, which is quite frightening. The UK 'media' is quite diverse, and analyticical. The recent phone tapping stuff is testiment to the care needed to keep check on some people in the media.

  • @1965guitarboy - Have you ever seen who owns the mainstream media? It's only a small handful of corporate entities that own all the news channels. It's from from a 'vast' collection, it's a few companies controlling all the information that is put out there. Watch the Frontline episode called 'the merchants of cool'. 5 companies own almost all the cable channels in the US, for example. That's it. 5 corporate entities with corporate agendas decide what can and can't be shown. That's dangerous.

  • @CO49273 Demos is an organisation in this case to teach how to reason. It has nothing to do with anything else you mentioned. Nothing. You have made links to other stuff with are not relevant, perhaps you should learn how to reason, because you clearly cant.

  • @TheChoujinVirus ... Dont forget, that many Humans do not take to rational reasoning very well, its hard work, and often lacks results, lol
