So, I just replaced the drive belt on this washing machine.

It is an old Speed Queen NA2510WD Marathon Washer.

It only makes the sound when it is agitating and not during spin cycle.

The motor runs in different directions depending on the cycle. Any ideas?

  • That must be an old machine. Belts went by the wayside years ago. I think most or all of them are direct drive now.

  • @Fortsand1 Actually the belts were all new. Turns out it was the transmission for the drum and the idler pulley's spring. Anyways, we dumped them and got front loaders.

  • I am having the opposite problem. My washer has a "Clicking" noise when the water is draining from the washer. This results is inproper draining and spinning out. Anyone have ANY idea what this might be. It almost sounds like a BB or pellet thats loose.

  • It's dry or worn bearings in one of the components and/or transmission, it's not worth the time or money to fix it, time for the scrap yard.

  • if you are referring to the clicking while it is going back and fourth,it is the trans, these were very noisy

  • what is the sound you are refurring to. A knocking type sound. Could be the tube brakes
