This film is a riot! I first saw it as a kid and really didn't get it.

I call it a comedy-drama, as there is minor bloodshed but Attenborough's Sergeant-Major steals the show with his over-the-top antics!

Not to be missed - EVER!

Very good film in bits - haven't seen this in ages. Attenborough is great with plenty interesting lines to deliver. Must have had a fine time in rehearsal.

In real life I reckon we'd have lost the grip, gone off and shot the lot of them at that time, so there's a deal of politics and propaganda going on in the background, methinks.
